At our dentistry practice in Richardson, TX, your comfort is important to us. Drs. Pramod Thomas and Wilner Loiseau provide sedation dentistry options to help patients who experience anxiety in the dentist’s chair, patients who have difficulty sitting for long periods, and those who require extensive treatment. We can provide intravenous (IV), sedation, oral conscious sedation, or nitrous oxide to help make your experience under our care as comfortable as possible.
Our Personalized Approach
During your consultation, we encourage you to be absolutely frank with us regarding your needs. This will help us choose a method and level of sedation that is appropriate for you.
Your oral health matters and nothing should stand between you and the outstanding dental care you need and deserve.
Regardless of whether you choose to receive sedation, it is important to understand we take many measures to ensure patient comfort. Local anesthesia is administered using The Wand®, a computerized tool that virtually eliminates the pain of an injection. Meanwhile, we take all the time necessary to explain your treatment and answer your questions so you can feel comfortable and confident under our care.
Care from Certified Professionals
Dr. Loiseau is certified to administer IV sedation, eliminating the need for costly services from an outside anesthesiologist. Dr. Loiseau has also received additional training and certification to respond in the unlikely event of a medical emergency.

Rest Easy
During your consultation, we can help determine if sedation is right for you.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as “laughing gas,” is inhaled through a mask worn during the procedure. You will remain able to respond to your doctor’s instructions and requests while feeling calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide subside quickly, and patients can safely drive themselves home following treatment
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation involves taking a prescribed oral medication before treatment. Once the medication takes effect, you will experience “twilight sleep,” meaning you will be heavily sedated, but not entirely unconscious. You can expect to feel groggy for a period after treatment, and you should arrange for a friend or loved one to transport you home following your appointment.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation
IV sedation can be actively adjusted throughout treatment to make certain that you remain absolutely relaxed. It is administered through a vein in your arm or on the back of your hand. You will not be unconscious, but very deeply relaxed. When administered by a certified doctor such as Dr. Loiseau, IV sedation is safe and has a very low risk of adverse effects. For further safety, we use Isolyte® IV containers, which are sterile and nonpyrogenic vessels free of bacteriostatic and antimicrobial agents. IV sedation can often benefit patients undergoing procedures such as a bone graft, dental implant placement, or tooth extraction.
