Lumineers®

A Reversible Alternative to Veneers

Lumineers® from our Richardson, TX cosmetic dentist are a minimal-prep alternative to regular veneers that can provide your smile with a dramatic enhancement.

Dental Lumineers® Versus Traditional Veneers

Dental veneers can address a number of cosmetic issues. Whether teeth are chipped, cracked, discolored, disproportionate, misaligned, or unevenly spaced, veneers can conceal these imperfections and complement your entire smile.

While traditional veneers require removing enamel from the entire front surface of a tooth, Lumineers® offered by Dr. Pramod Thomas are extremely thin and may require little or no alteration. At our dental office in Richardson, TX, we’ll help you choose the right type of veneer to fit your needs.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Lumineers®?

Our cosmetic dentists carefully evaluate each patient to determine their candidacy. In general, patients must have a few fundamental smile and health characteristics in order to qualify for Lumineers®:

Existing Dental Problems will be Treated First

Issues such as gum disease and tooth decay must be treated prior to the placement of Lumineers®.

Smile Imperfections Correctable

Not all smile imperfections can be corrected by Lumineers®. In some cases, thicker dental veneers or another cosmetic dentistry service is a better choice.

Patient Compliance

Patients who receive this treatment should be willing to maintain a consistent oral hygiene routine. With time, the pieces can become stained, discolored, cracked, chipped, and dislodged without proper care.

What Are the Advantages of Lumineers?

Lumineers® Placement

Once it has been confirmed that you can receive Lumineers, you should anticipate making two visits to our dental office to have them placed.

Consult

During the first visit, the dentist will take detailed impressions and measurements of the teeth. Additionally, the patient and dentist will choose the correct shade to match the rest of the smile. This precise data will be sent to a special laboratory to produce each individual Lumineer.

At the second appointment, the dentist will test each Lumineer before bonding it in place using a special adhesive. Once bonded, they will be polished and shined to maximize their brilliance and translucence.
